Driving In Bus Lanes Can Bump Up Your InsuranceJanuary 15th, 2008

It has been reported by the Norwich Evening News that police in Norwich stopped over 100 drivers for using a bus lane in the city centre. Reports have shown that there were 107 verbal warnings issued to motorists using the restricted area of Catton Grove Road during the 07:30 to 09:30 GMT rush hour.
This can become a problem for those who get a conviction behind the wheel for people looking to keep their car insurance policy prices down, because some cover firms may find the notice indicative of a dangerous road user.
Sergeant Lucy Hayman from Norwich police commented that the rules are in place in order to keep people on bikes protected and roads clear.
“The restrictions are there to ease congestion, encourage people to consider using other forms of transport and to provide cyclists with a safer route. Drivers who routinely ignore the restrictions do so at their peril,”
