MCE Quad Bike Insurance On A Provisional Car Or Bike LicenceJanuary 7th, 2008

You may well know that quad bikes (ATV) are not standard vehicles, quads are notoriously difficult to insure, especially so for road use. In fact, most insurers won’t touch them. There are still a few that will insure them with no trouble as long as you have a full car or bike licence like,
www.bikesure.co.uk
www.adrianflux.co.uk
But if you check the DVLA website it states you can ride Motor tricycles / quadricycles, three or four wheeled vehicles with an unladen weight not exceeding 550kg from the age of 17yrs under cat B1.
This means that if you are 17yrs and over you can ride a quad bike on a Provisional car licence as long as it’s a one-seater and you display L plates.
Engine size does not matter, so you can have anything from 50cc to 750cc+ as long as it does not weigh more that 55kg.
If you want to ride a quad bike on a provisional car licence then visit www.mceinsurance.com
They can help as I am with them under a provisional car licence and I have a 200cc quad bike.
My insurance is £256 full comp but that’s because I’m over the 25yrs old barrier if you are below it might be a little more but well worth it.

I would just like to reiterate that MCE Insurance does not cover Quad Bike Insurance for drivers that have obtained a UK Provisional Licence we are not sure who has made the above post but they are incorrect.
Many Thanks
