Number Of Drivers With No Insurance DropsJanuary 15th, 2008

In the last few years the number of drivers who take to the road without car insurance has decreased, according to the British Insurance Brokers’ Association (BIBA).
Technical and corporate affairs executive for BIBA Graeme Trudgill, said that uninsured driving rates have been reduced by more than ten per cent in the past two years.
He also explained that drivers without car insurance are now faced with checks by police, who have access to the motor insurance database and who can seize vehicles also there have been many cameras that automatically scan vehicles to test if they are insured have also been employed to help law enforcement reduce these cases.
Mr Trudgill went on to say that in 2007, approximately 150,000 were seized by the police and in 2006 this number was 78,000,” adding that he expects an even higher number this year.
Every year, about 23,000 people are involved in accidents that include uninsured drivers, according to the Motor Insurer’s Bureau.
